Minnesota Vikings Running Back Adrian Peterson Reinstated

He had been suspended for his involvement in a child abuse case

Minnesota Vikings Running Back Adrian Peterson was informed that he will officially be reinstated beginning Friday.

He had been indefinitely suspended in November for his involvement in a child abuse case involving his son, but now the question remains whether or not he will play with the Vikings during the 2015 season. He had been relatively open about his disappointment regarding the way his team handled him during the fallout from his controversy.

After a grand jury indicted the running back on felony charges of reckless or negligent injury to a child, the Vikings suspended Peterson for their game against the New England Patriots. They reinstated him the following Monday, but received so much backlash they put him on the commissioner's permission/exempt list with the help of the league.

Peterson had issued a statement at the time, writitng, "I am not a perfect son. I am not a perfect husband. I am not a perfect parents, but I am, without a doubt, not a child abuser. I am someone that disciplined his child and idd not intend to fuse him any injury. No one can understand the hurt that I feel for my son and for the harm I caused him. My goal is always to teach my son right from wrong and that's what I tried to do that day.

Peterson pleaded down to one misdemeanor count of reckless assault in November, which yielded in a large fine, 80 hours of community service and enrollment in parenting classes.

A statement from the NFL reads, "Beyond the requirement to comply with his court obligations and plan of counseling, Peterson was reminded that his continuing participation in the NFL depends on his avoidance of any further conduct that violates the Personal Conduct Policy or other NFL policies."

It continues, "Any further violation of the Personal Conduct Policy by Peterson would result in additional discipline, which could include suspension without pay or banishment from the NFL. Peterson was suspended without pay last November 18 for the remainder of the 2014 NFL season for violating the NFL Personal Conduct Policy in an incident of abusive discipline that he inflicted on his four-year-old son last May. Peterson pled no contest on November 4 in state court in Montgomery County, Texas to reckless assault of the child."

Peterson's plea kept the door open for a potential reinstatement.
