Shawn's back! And behind the camera!
Girl Meets World welcomed back a fan-favorite Boy Meets World alum to direct its big season one finale, airing on Friday, March 27: Rider Strong aka Shawn.
Strong has made several appearances on the wildly popular Disney Channel comedy series in its first season, but is taking on his biggest role yet in "Girl Meets First Date," and we've got your exclusive first look at what it was like on set with Strong in charge!
"It's great having Rider direct," Ben Savage, the Cory to Strong's Shawn, says in the exclusive clip, while Strong calls directing Savage and Danielle Fishel "a dream because we know each other so well and they're great actors." Awww!
And Strong says he was able to relate to young stars Rowan Blanchard, whose character Riley is going on her first date in the finale (Adorable hijinks ensue, as you can see in the video!), and Sabrina Carpenter, given his previous experience on Boy Meets World.
"I sort of know exactly what it's like to be a 13-year-old acting on a TV show for the Disney Channel because I did it for seven years," he says with a laugh. "So the kids and I really connected."
And fans of the hit Disney Channel comedy will be happy to hear that it's heading to the ATX TV Festival in June, with Savage, Blanchard, Carpenter and both series' creator Michael Jacobs set to appear. Two years ago, the festival, which takes place in Austin, Tex., staged an epic Boy Meets World reunion. "Two years ago, ATX featured the Boy Meets World reunion, and the cast and I had a magnificent three days, treated to the wonderful hospitality of the festival and the city of Austin," Jacobs said in a statement. "This year, Ben Savage and I can't wait to attend again, and bring Rowan and Sabrina to the party."
Girl Meets World's big season finale is part of Disney Channel's "Tune In 4 What?!" programming event, which is four days featuring eight new episodes of the network's hit comedies, running from Thursday, March 26 through Sunday, March 29.
