Disney "Save Yourself" Series

Who needs a prince? Badass princesses can save themselves.

Middle Eastern artist Saint Hoax, who has previously done work with Disney characters before, has created a series called "Save Yourself" which features iconic Disney happy endings, with the prince removed.

And it turns out that these girls didn't need a knight in shining armor to wake them with a kiss. They could just kiss themselves.

"I have waited too long to be saved, felt like a book left on a shelf. But why wait to be saved, when I can simply save myself," reads the intro to the series on his website.

Having illustrations of Princess Jasmine, Ariel and Cinderella kissing themselves isn't just for the shock value, Hoax tells The Huffington Post. It's about loving yourself first.

"[The series] "a celebration of the independent, self-sufficient kind of love," he says. "The kind of love that you don't wait to receive from someone else."

And yes, the fact that these photos came out on Valentine's Day was no accident.

"I know for a fact that some single people feel left out," he said. "It's not a ‘pity' project; having someone to love is not an achievement. This is more of a ‘If you don't love you, no one else will' kind of thing."

Saint Hoax has also done series with Disney princesses that tackled sexual abuse, eating disorders and domestic violence. To see more of his work, visit Saint Hoax's website and Instagram page.
