While we've already offered up some sparkly dress alternatives and celeb beauty inspiration for New Year's Eve, we now have our minds on classic closet staples that can be revamped for tonight's festivities.

Cue the basic (but very chic) black jumpsuit, which we've been eyeing on celebs like Jessica Alba and Drew Barrymore. If you're at a loss for what to wear tonight, why not dress up something that's already on hand?

Start with a romper in a solid color, like this sleek one-shoulder style by Halston Heritage. For jewelry, you have to go statement necklace. We repeat: Go. Statement. Necklace. Bonus points if it's a colorful style, like this bejeweled piece from Charlotte Russe. Then add drop earrings (also in a bright color à la Rachel Roy's crystal-embellished pair), a simple bangle (like this River Island style) and pumps in a fun hue (we're partial to these teal-suede platforms from Jeffrey Campbell).

The only thing left before you leave the door? A sturdy box clutch (like this leather-and-gold number from Daily Look) to keep your makeup in place as you dance the night away.
