The CWIt's time to celebrate the pretty people!
The CW has officially renewed five of their series for next season, including two freshman dramas, E! News has confirmed.
The network has ordered a sixth season of The Vampire Diaries, a 10th season of Supernatural and a third season of Arrow, all established hits, while Reign and The Originals were picked up for second seasons.
"This season we've had great success with our new hit series The Originals paired with Supernatural, giving us our best Tuesday nights in years," CW President Mark Pedowitz said in a statement. "The Vampire Diaries is No. 2 in its time period in the young adult demos, and with Arrow continuing to gain among young men, and Reign growing its time period, we now have strong nights on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. I'm very pleased to announce early pickups for all five series, and let our fans know they'll have more great drama to look forward to next season."
On Tuesday nights, The Originals, The Vampire Diaries' successful spinoff, and Supernatural have given the network one of its most highly rated pairings in years, doubling its year-to-year rating in the aduls 18-49 demo (1.5 vs. 0.6).
"ATTENTION SEASON 2 CONFIRMED 4 #TheOriginals," Originals star Joseph Morgan tweteed. "THX 2 ALL FANG FANS 4 KEEPING US EMPLOYED. BLOODY MAYHEM COMING YR WAY."
The Vampire Diaries recently hit its 100th episode, while Arrow is the network's most-watched series. "#Season3. Happening," Arrow star Stephen Amell simply tweeted.
So which series are still left to fret over their fate? Freshman drama The Tomorrow People, which comes from Arrow boss Greg Berlanti and TVD's Julie Plec, as well as Hart of Dixie, Beauty and the Beast and The Carrie Diaries. Newbies The 100 and Star-Crossed have yet to premiere and their performances will weigh into the network's decisions for the 2014-15 season.
Regarding Beauty and the Beast, Pedowitz recently said, "I'm really happy with it creatively." Rachel Bilson's Hart of Dixie, meanwhile, will move to Friday night when it returns in March. "It had a tough time period up against The Voice and Dancing With the Stars. It held up fairly well," Pedowitz said of HOD's old Monday timeslot.
The Carrie Diaries season two finale recently attracted less than a million viewers.
