A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away, the Star Wars cast had some very hilarious goofs that are just now surfacing 36 years later!

A blooper reel of outtakes that screened at San Diego's Comic-Con has made its way online after being unearthed by author J.W. Rinzler as he was combing through the Lucasfilm archives to put together his book, The Making of Star Wars (Enhanced Edition).

The partially silent clip, which has since gone viral, gives Jedi the world over a brief glimpse of some of the lighter moments George Lucas and company had while filming the 1977 blockbuster classic.

Among the more hilarious gaffes contained in the footage: the landspeeder Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) drives loses its wheel covering; Governor Tarkin (Peter Cushing) blows a line opposite Princess Leia (Carrie Fisher); Obi-Wan Kenobi (Alec Guinness) cracks up in the cockpit of the Millennium Falcon; and—forget marching—stormtroopers hilarious bumble into the detention center as Han Solo (Harrison Ford) makes his way back into detention block AA-23.

At 2:04, Ford also eats his headset while he's presumably is about to say, "Great shot, kid, that was one in a million!" While shortly thereafter, Hamill gives us a lesson in how to pronounce "Supernova."

May the Force be funny.

The bloopers from Episode IV—A New Hope come in the wake of news that Lucasfilm has tapped Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi scribe Lawrence Kasdan to take over scripting duties from Toy Story 3 writer Michael Arndt and co-write Star Wars 7 with the sequel's director, J.J. Abrams.
