The network has officially given full season picked ups to three of its freshman comedies: The Crazy Ones, Mom and The Millers. (The pickup news comes after CBS canceled its other new sitcom We Are Men.)
"We're proud of CBS's leadership position in comedy and excited to build on it with the back nine pick-ups of these three new comedies," CBS Entertainment president Nina Tassler, said in a statement. "These series are creatively distinct, continue to improve each week and are led by strong showrunners, writing and production staffs, and feature amazingly talented casts."
Starring Sarah Michelle Gellar and Robin Williams as a father-daughter duo running an ad agency together, The Crazy Ones was one of the most buzzed about new offerings of the season and has delivered in the ratings: Its currently averaging 13.7 million viewers and a 3.6 rating in the adults 18-49 demo after debuting to 15.6 million viewers, the most-watched seris premiere of the fall. "It's official we are picked up," Gellar tweeted of the good news. "Thank you everyone at #thecrazyones and all the fans." Earlier this week, we exclusively reported that High School Musical star Ashley Tisdale is set to make a guest appearance on the sitcom.
Mom, which comes from Chuck Lorre and stars Anna Faris and Allison Janney, has been averaging 7.9 million viewers and a 2.6 rating in the demo, while Will Arnett's The Millers has been one of the best performers of the fall's new crop of shows, averaging 12.4 million viewers and a 3.2 rating.
Elsewhere, Fox made the first big pickup of the season, renewing Sleepy Hollow for a second season, while NBC gave a full season order to James Spader's The Blacklist. ABC has officially picked up Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. for a full season and canceled Lucky 7 after two episodes.
