How Much Will Charlie Hunnam's Departure Cost Fifty Shades of Grey? Get the Details!

Hearing of Charlie Hunnam dropping out of his role as Christian Grey for Fifty Shades of Grey definitely took a toll on fans' emotions (we can still hear the sobs), but what about the actual production?

Will this delay shooting? Will it cost more to replace the Sons of Anarchy star? Will we ever be able to envision someone else looking "good in those suits"?

E! News has obtained some information that may answer these questions—except for the last one, that's on you—in addition to some more insight as to what may have been behind the scheduling conflict behind his departure.

"Recasting the lead is the easiest thing, unless they need to bring someone more expensive in, which I doubt," an industry insider tells E! News. "Since it's not a special-effects-driven movie, it won't really affect budget."

But will Hunnam's exit create a negative light for the star? The insider tells us, "I'm sure there's backlash of a sort, but you never know the politics. It could be they got cold feet on him or vice versa."

Our source also shared some knowledge on the writers working on the script and whether they'll begin production on time (reportedly Nov. 5), "I'm sure the script work was going to happen anyway. it's just annoying when it gets reported, because most of the time it's just stuff that needs to get done for production, etc. But they have enough time to recast and make the date for sure."

Universal Pictures and Focus Features pointed to scheduling conflicts as a reason for Hunnam's exit in a joint statement that read, "The filmmakers of Fifty Shades of Grey and Charlie Hunnam have agreed to find another male lead given Hunnam's immersive TV schedule which is not allowing him time to adequately prepare for the role of Christian Grey."

And E! News has now learned that it may not be his FX series that's the issue.

Hunnam is going to star in Crimson Peak, costarring Jessica Chastain and directed by Guillermo del Toro (who worked with Charlie on Pacific Rim), about a young author that discovers her charming new husband is not who he appears to be. According to IMDb, the film is in preproduction with shooting slated to begin in early 2014.
