Meet Brody. Brody is a Starbucks barista living in L.A. One day at work, Brody hit on model Piper Kennedy and convinced her to give him her number. The next day, Brody recorded this video selfie and sent it to Piper.
That is the origin story of #StarbucksDrakeHands (H/T Buzzfeed).
Piper's friend DJ Ben Roc took the 15-second video selfie that Brody sent and uploaded it to his Instagram account, writing, "A friend met this guy at a coffee shop. He got her number and sent her this. Nice work bud."
We would say "nice work, bud" too, but we have no words.
DJ Ben Roc racked up over 1,000 likes on the original Instagram and quickly followed it up with a parody version by one of his friends, Alex Orley. Then the Internet took it and ran with it.
DJ BRoc started collecting the videos under the hashtag #StarbucksDrakeHands (best hashtag ever?) and the viral trend now has its own official Instagram account and Twitter page.
Each video follows the same basic guidelines: Seductively stare down the camera while Drake's "Hold On, We're Going Home" plays in the distance. But now people are adding their own special something to their selfies.
Some more, uh, special than others.
Oh and yes, there's already an animal version.
But they all have one thing in common: Drake hands. Always Drake hands.
