The Velvet Teddy Bear is looking to be a slimmer Teddy Bear.
As reported back in July, American Idol winner Ruben Studdard will be a contestant on the next season of NBC's The Biggest Loser.
And as fans of the show await the popular program's return on Oct. 8, Studdard recalls how he "didn't get an oppportunity to have a pig-out session" just before hitting the gym with trainers Jillian Michaels, Bob Harper and Dolvett Quince.
"I was actually working the night before," Billboard quotes the singer as saying. "I actually flew from a concert to the ranch...I'm sure I probably would have had a piece of cake or something before I went up to the ranch for months and months."
The 35-year-old, who won season 2 of Idol (beating out Clay Aiken) in 2003, has struggled with obesity. After a performance on Idol in 2010, he talked about losing approximately 80 pounds through a vegan diet and regular exercise.
And he's clearly looking to shed even more.
"I have to get up every day and give myself the two hours that I need to keep myself together before I even get into any music stuff," he says. "And that's going to have to be how I do it."
