Emma Roberts undoubtedly looked beautiful at the 2013 Emmy Awards Sunday, but according to the actress, her stunning Stella McCartney gown was a last-minute decision.

"I love it. I don't really do color a lot so I was like ‘You know what? I should do some color,'" the 22-year-old star told E! News at the Fox afterparty of her radiant red dress before admitting that she only started searching for her outfit on "Friday."

"It was very last minute, because I was filming and then I got to L.A. and then actually Saturday—yesterday—I found this," she confessed, adding, "Luckily, it fit!"

Not only did Roberts' frock fit like a glove, but it also hugged her curves in all the right places, creating a gorgeous silhouette that showed off her enviable figure. She added gold jewelry to her sleek ensemble and paired the dress with matching patent pumps for an added pop of color.

The blond beauty also opened up about the highly anticipated third season of American Horror Story, which centers on witches and is appropriately titled Coven. Roberts will be making her AHS debut alongside fellow newbies Kathy Bates, Angela Bassett and Gabourey Sidibe in the Ryan Murphy-created FX series.

"The show shoots in New Orleans this year which is so fun because New Orleans is such an amazing place and it's really spooky and there's so much history there," she said. "I think it's cool that they're kind incorporating New Orleans into the show. And it kind of adds another element to it."

On Friday, E! News gave fans an exclusive sneak peek of the epically wicked trailer for the upcoming season, which also features AHS-favorites Taissa Farmiga, Denis O'Hare, Frances Conroy, Alexandra Breckenridge and Evan Peters (who is also Emma's real-life beau).

Coven, tells the story of a school in New Orleans, Miss Robichaux's Academy for Exceptional Young Ladies, which is run by Cordelia (Sarah Paulson) and teaches young witches how to protect themselves against mysterious attacks that have been plaguing their kind. Fed up with the witch hunts, Cordelia's powerful and estranged mother Fiona (Jessica Lange) returns home from Los Angeles to take action.

"This year I play Madison, and she's cool because I get to do a little bit of humor because it's a scary show," Roberts explained. "And there's a lot of dark stuff happening and my character gets to be funny at times."

American Horror Story: Coven premieres Oct. 9 at 10 p.m. on FX.
