Updos are so 2012.  Long flowing locks ruled the Emmys red carpet last night, whether loose curls or structured waves, parted down the middle or swept to the side, hair cascaded over the shoulders of starlets like Allison Williams, Connie Britton, Carrie Underwood and Sofia Vergara.

Some of the starlets like Mindy Kaling, January Jones, Christina Hendricks and Taylor Schilling, gave their tresses a retro feel by sculpting their hair into pin curls and finger curls.

By far our favorite trend of the night was the bright fuchsia lip, as seen on Emily Deschanel, Sarah Silverman, Anna Chlumsky and Julianna Margolis. The best thing about this "it" lip color for fall is it looks good with every skin tone and hair color. Think of it as the little black dress of lipstick.

We would love to say we hearted all the trends we saw last night, but unfortunately there were a few beauty don'ts that haunted the red carpet. What's up with the extreme slick look on Emilia Clarke, Amy Poehler and Kate Mara? This coif is harsh on everyone and there's simply nothing pretty about looking like you used an entire tin of pomade on your hair.

If you're a beauty addict, Janna will be your enabler. Just an occasional user? She'll be your bad influence. Visit her blog at mybeautybinge.com and indulge!
