Not familiar with Chris Gelinas' designs?

Well, get ready to be!

The emerging designer was just announced as the winner of Peroni Nastro Azzuro's second annual Made for Peroni Young Designer Awards during an event at New York's Milk Studios.

Nabbing the prize is no small feat, considering he competed against five other talented finalists and was crowned the winner by some of fashion's most notable faces, including model Coco Rocha, style expert and E! correspondent Zanna Roberts Rassi and British designer Antonio Berardi, who helped judge the competition alongside Made Fashion Week cofounder Jenne Lombardo and last year's winner Nolan Bellavance.

Gelinas, a Parsons School of Design graduate, who has logged time working at Balenciaga, Marc Jacobs, Proenza Schouler and even worked asisting Theyskens' Theory Olivier Theyskens, describes the his work as  "contrasting pioneering techniques with the classic conventions of luxury and femininity" on his website.

The hefty $40,000 prize that he pockets of the winner of the competition should help him achieve his vision!

Gelinas will show his collection at the Made Fashion Week fall/winter 2014 in February.
