In just one week Bones will finally be back on the air (stupid summer hiatus!) and we're helping you prepare for the season nine premiere by looking back on Booth (David Boreanaz), Brennan (Emily Deschanel) and the rest of the gang's most memorable moments from season eight. Last week, we shared the Fox hit's cast's picks for last season's most memorable moments and episodes and this week we're sharing their picks for the darkest scenes, including Booth and Brennan's most heartbreaking scene ever. Get ready to feel all the feels all over again!
So which dark moments did Boreanaz, Deschanel, TJ Thyne, John Francis Daley and the rest of the cast pick as their personal favorite? Watch our exclusive clip to find out!
Among the series' darkest moments in deason eight? Sweets dumping Daisy, which Daley describes as "sad, but impactful," and Brennan spending time with her mother (Was it a hallucination or did she take a mini-vaca to Heaven?!) after getting shot. "It's a lovely opportunity for them to connect, but also scary and dramatic," Deschanel explains of the episode.
Of course, the cast can't talk about dark moments without bringing up the series' big bad Pelant (Andrew Leeds). Thyne reveals he thinks Hodgins really could've killed him at one point after the villain broke into his home, while Daley discusses Sweets' guilt after Pelant uses his research to harm FBI agents.
Oh, and that time Pelant made Booth call off his engagement to Brennan, who "has to come to grips with me saying, 'I need to pull back from this proposal, I don't think we should do it,'" Boreanaz says. Curse you, Pelant!
Bones returns for its ninth season on Monday, Sept. 16 on Fox.
