Brad Pitt premiered his much anticipated latest project, 12 Years a Slave, Friday at the Toronto International Film Festival, taking time to chat with E! on the red carpet while he was at it.

Pitt explained that the film has an important message: teaching everyone that people must take care of each other.

He also gushed that the drama is a "must-see."

12 Years a Slave, which is generating incredible buzz, features Chiwetel Ejiofor as a free man who is sold into slavery in pre-Civil War Louisiana.

And it certainly was an emotional hit with the Toronto audience.

A source, who was in attendance, told E! News there wasn't a dry eye in the room.

After the premiere, Pitt and his co-stars held a private dinner at Hudson Kitchen.  The Oscar nominee was later spotted dancing (yes dancing!) at Bungalow 8 until about 2 a.m.

He certainly knows how to celebrate!

To hear more from Pitt's interview, make sure to tune into E! News Monday at 7 p.m. & 11:30 p.m.
