John Legend bares his soul through his music, but in a recent Funny or Die sketch, the singer bared even more when he pretended to be a nudist. The 34-year-old explained how the idea for the viral video came to be during a September 4 appearance on E!'s Chelsea Lately.
"I'm not making any jokes about anything sexually, but you look a lot smaller there than you do in person," host Chelsea Handler quipped after showing a video still. "It really doesn't do you justice."
Legend explained that he "rarely" performs in the buff, but admitted that he "actually did a few times." Funny or Die writeres based the sketch on an off-the-cuff quote from one of the crooner's interviews. Legend later teased Handler about it, telling the comedienne, "If you come to my house, I will be clothed—unless you want me to take my clothes off."
While he's not actually a nudist, Legend said he has no problems being naked around his fiancée, Sports Illustrated swimsuit model Chrissy Teigen. "I tend to be okay with being naked around my house of it's just me or just me and Chrissy."
