The 23-year-old Austin, Texas, native was spotted for the first time since being cast as the female lead in the highly anticipated and extremely sexy adaptation Fifty Shades of Grey, and it looks like the actress and her character share a similar fashion sense.
Johnson, who was on the set of Cymbelline in New York, showcased laid-back style by wearing Hannah Bruno jean shorts and an oversize, off-the-shoulder white shirt, something Anastasia—who classifies herself as a "T-shirt and Converse shoes" type of girl, before Christian Grey gets involved, of course—might wear.
However, the actress's name made numerous headlines after author of the erotic trilogy E.L. James announced the Fifty Shades casting news on Twitter on Monday.
"I am delighted to let you know that the lovely Dakota Johnson has agreed to be our Anastasia in the film adaptation of Fifty Shades of Grey," James wrote, later adding, "The gorgeous and talented Charlie Hunnam will be Christian Grey in the film adaptation of Fifty Shades of Grey."
But not everyone was thrilled with the casting choice for the two lead roles.
In fact, shortly after the announcement was made, an online petition was created in hopes of getting the roles recast. Nearly 18,000 fans have already signed the petition that specifically demands that Matt Bomer and Alexis Bledel be cast ASAP.
