Glee is getting some X factor in the new season.

Demi Lovato is set to guest star on the series' upcoming fifth season, sources confirm to E! News.

The "Heart Attack" singer, who also headlines Fox's The X Factor, will play Dani, a struggling artist in New York who befriends Rachel (Lea Michele) and Santana (Naya Rivera). She will reportedly also have many scenes and musical numbers with another big Glee guest star, American Idol alum Adam Lambert.

Lovato will first appear in the Oct. 3 episode (one of the Beatles tribute episode), and is schedule for at least six episodes.

Although Demi is widely known for having some killer pipes, she is no stranger to the small screen. She starred in the Disney series Sonny With a Chance for two years and the TV film franchise Camp Rock, which also featured the Jonas Brothers. Lovato's other acting credits include an episode of Grey's Anatomy and Prison Break.

Lovato's reps wouldn't confirm the Glee role, telling us: "We don't have any news to share at the moment."

If Lovato can pull double duty and appear on both Glee and The X Factor (sources tell us that Glee will work around her X Factor schedule), then perhaps Lambert could still make a return to American Idol as a judge. We first reported that producers were chasing the singer to be on the judging panel in the new season, as he was the "popular choice" to join the reality series.

Lambert tweeted at Lovato today to congratulate her on the new gig. "I just heard the news! Excited to sing w you girl! IF the rumors are true! Lol"

Glee's recently released season five promo, titled "Once Again," featured an upbeat montage of the best season four moments, but didn't include any shots of Cory Monteith, who passed away tragically over the summer. Ryan Murphy recently confirmed that Finn will not be killed off via a drug overdose in the Monteith tribute episode.

TVLine first reported the news of Lovato's casting.

Glee's fifth season will premiere on Thursday, Sept. 26 on Fox.
