CNNPrince William is happily settling into his new role as father to Britain's future monarch.
And, in his first TV interview since he and Kate Middleton welcomed their first child, the 31-year-old Duke of Cambridge reflected candidly and openly on how the experience has profoundly left him a changed man.
"I think the last few weeks for me have been just a very different emotional experience, something I never thought I would feel myself," he tells CNN's Max Foster in an interview that aired Monday. "And I find, again it's only been a short period, but a lot of things affect me differently now."
Looking relaxed in jeans and a blue shirt as he sat in the garden at Kensington Palace, William couldn't help but gush about the newborn, who seems to have already earned an endearing nickname from his pop.
"He's a little bit of a rascal, put it that way," the royal said. "So he either reminds me of my brother [Prince Harry] or me when I was younger. I'm not sure. But, he's doing very well at the moment. He does like to keep having his nappy changed."
In fact, William proudly admitted that it was he who did the wee one's very first diaper change.
Kate, on the other hand, appears to be taking on the night duties when it comes to Prince George's care.
"A little bit," William said when asked whether he's often up at night. "Not as much as Catherine," he said, as he gave props to his wife for "doing a fantastic job."
William looked back fondly at the moment that he and his wife introduced their first-born to the world, on the steps of the Lindo Wing at St. Mary's Hospital in London.
"As any new parent knows, you're only too happy to show off your new child and, you know, proclaim that he is the best-looking or the best everything," the duke mused.
But he was also thankful that the little one displayed quite the even-keeled temperament.
"It's nice that people want to see George—I'm just glad he wasn't screaming his head off the whole way through," William quipped.
As for the famous moment when William carried their son out in a car seat, which he later fastened securely inside the waiting vehicle, the royal admitted that he need to do some practice beforehand.
"I was terrified that I was going to do some, you know, it was going to fall off or the door wasn't going to close properly," he admitted. "So, I had actually practiced with that seat, but only once before."
The interview is part of a one-hour documentary, Prince William's Passion: New Hope, New Father, that is scheduled to air on the cable network on Sept. 16.
