NBCIt looks like Fashion Star won't be walking down the NBC runway next year.
NBC entertainment president Bob Greenblatt confirmed at the summer TCA press tour that the Jessica Simpson reality series Fashion Star has been canceled after two seasons.
The fashion competition, which also starred Nicole Richie, featured a group of aspiring designers competing for a chance to have their designs sold in Macy's, Saks and Express stores throughout the country.
Following the NBC executive press panel, Greenblatt revealed to a group of reporters with a short yet direct "no" when The Hollywood Reporter asked if Fashion Star would return for a third season.
The series featured notable designers and celebrities Simpson, Richie and John Varvatos acting as mentors for their team of up-and-coming fashion designers. News of this cancellation could be positive for Simpson, who is now busy juggling life as a mom of two after giving birth in June to son Ace Knute Johnson.
Last season NBC moved the show from Tuesday nights to Fridays and attempted to revamp the vibe of the show with new host Louise Roe, replacing Elle Macpherson from season one. The buyers of the show also featured a mini-shakeup in its sophomore season when Express took the place of H&M on the panel.
Unfortunately, these changes were not enough to snatch more viewers. The May 10 finale of Fashion Star only snagged 2.5 million ratings and a 0.5 rating in the 18-49 demo.
Coming up this fall, NBC is hoping their newest reality game show, Million Second Quiz, will be able to grab America's attention with its contestants competing in round-the-clock games over the course of 12 days.
