A source tells E! News exclusively that the daddy-to-be canceled Monday night plans with his guy friends—just in case his pregnant wife went into labor during that time.
Wills backing out of plans with his boys is "unexpected," adds a source, so it seems he might have some father's intuition (or pre-parent anxiety!) about when the royal baby is planning to make his or her debut.
He may be onto something. Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, let it slip Monday that she and hubby Prince Charles are "hopeful" that Kate will give birth "by the end of the week."
"We are all just waiting by the telephone," she said.
Kate's own mother, Carole Middleton, is expecting to become a grandma just a little later. She reportedly expects the baby to be a Leo, meaning his or her birthdate would fall between July 23 and Aug. 22.
And, of course, if we're to believe the betting Brits, the newest heir to the throne "will be a 7-pound brunette princess named Alexandra, born sometime in the morning," most likely before July 22.
For those who don't put much stock in family guesses, gambling and astrology, let's take a look at St. Mary's, the London hospital where Kate is expected to give birth. E! News confirmed that police did a massive sweep of the facilities Friday morning in order to ensure Kate and William would have the utmost privacy and care. (Fortunately for patients who happen to be commoners, the hospital won't be shutting down entirely when the Prince or Princess of Cambridge is born. Other patients will, however, undergo strict security policies.)
Although not quite royals on their own, Kate's mom and sister Pippa Middleton will reportedly join the princess and her hubby in the delivery room. And if by some chance she doesn't feel completely comortable listening to the medical team's advice, her mama can offer some birthing insight, too. According to the book, Kate: A Biography, Carole was given emergency midwife training back in 1976 when she became a British Airways' flight attendant.
In addition to the family support she'll receive in her private suite in the hospital's Lindo wing, Kate's reportedly considered hypnosis to help ease the pain of delivery. And no need to stress about an epidural needle: This mom-to-be is reportedly hoping to have a natural birth.
Then, when the royal baby is born, Kate, Wills, Pippa and Carole can call the queen, then celebrate with a complimentary champagne toast!
