Ryan Seacrest must be pretty excited for Kim Kardashian, right?

"I was thrilled!" the Keeping Up With the Kardashians executive producer said Thursday on the Tonight Show, when asked how he felt when he found out his good friend was expecting a baby with Kanye West. "I was very happy for them."

"Now, are you in there with the obstetrician?" Jay Leno asked, inquiring as to Seacrest's level of involvement and miming holding up a camera.

"Am I going to be in the room, with the zoom lens, shooting all of this to put on the air on E!?" Seacrest clarified. "I would not."

"You will see her pregnancy on Keeping Up With the Kardashians," he added, "but she'll be about four and a half months in to her pregnancy once we start shooting for next season."

And no, Jay, viewers won't be seeing the conception.

"I think when you have Kanye on you should ask him that question," advised Seacrest.

Paris Hilton is "really happy" for Kim

Ostensibly there in his capacity as host of American Idol, Seacrest and judges Keith Urban and Randy Jackson also were asked to weigh in on the Nicki Minaj-Mariah Carey drama ahead of the show's 12th-season premiere Monday.

"It's a happy, dysfunctional family," offered Jackson.

Leave it to Seacrest to step in and sort-of answer, of course: "These two ladies are not stars in their own right because they're shy, so you'll see how not shy they are this season."

"It's raw," Urban added. "The reason why the four of us, I think, are chosen is because we're very, very different and we disagree on things, we like different things. But the plus side is that, if the four of us unanimously agree on you, it's a magical moment, too."

Urban wouldn't be free to negotiate peace in the Middle East by any chance, would he?
