Brent Musburger realizes he got a little bit carried away with his reaction to Katherine Webb cheering on boyfriend AJ McCarron Monday night.

The ESPN host devoted an inordinate amount of screentime to Miss Alabama USA, shooting her to Twitter stardom almost instantaneously. The network released a statement Tuesday apologizing for Musburger's excessive commentary during the Alabama game.

"We always try to capture interesting storylines and the relationship between an Auburn grad who is Miss Alabama and the current Alabama quarterback certainly met that test," said the statement. "However, we apologize that the commentary in this instance went too far and Brent understands that."

Although Webb's remained mum on Twitter about her influx of 100,000+ new followers, Donald Trump (who owns the Miss Universe organization) is ready to capitalize on her insta-fame.

He tweeted Tuesday: "We are going to ask Katherine Webb to be a judge at the Miss USA Pageant coming up in Las Vegas."

"Miss Alabama, Katherine Webb, has been a truly great representative of the Ms. USA Organization ..We are proud of her," he added. "What a great couple... Katherine Webb and AJ McCarron. They are both winners."
