Ryan Gosling has a very good reason for working with Emma Stone on not one, but two movies.

"The truth is, Emma Stone owes me money," Gosling cracked at last night's premiere of their new drama, Gangster Squad. (Their first together was Crazy, Stupid, Love.) "If I show up here or I have to do another movie with her to get it, I will."

Let's just hope Ms. Stone wasn't around for Gosling's shooting practice to play an L.A. detective in the 1940s and '50s. "I made the mistake of having a Redbull before I shot the Tommy Gun for the first time," he said. "That was a bad combo. They never gave it back to me."

The film (in theaters on Friday) stars Josh Brolin as a badass detective who leads a secret LAPD squad trying to take down the infamous 1940s East Coast mobster Mickey Cohen, played by Sean Penn.

SPOILER ALERT! We're about to tell you about one very crucial scene in the movie.

In one of the bloodiest sequences in the film, Brolin and Penn go fist-to-fist in a brutal fight that takes place in the middle of the night.

"I know Josh especially wanted that to be one of the greatest fights in movie history," director Ruben Fleischer told me. "He and Sean worked so hard on that every step of the way.

"It took three nights to shoot," he continued. "We would start at midnight and shoot until the sun came up. Those were long, dark, cold and wet nights."

It worked. We've seen the movie and we promise the scene will have you covering your eyes and squirming in your seat.
