Prince Harry may be doing his duty for the Crown as an attack helicopter pilot deployed in Afghanistan. But he's not exactly making friends with local tribal leaders.

Gulbuddin Hekmatyar, an Afghan warlord who's behind a series of attacks against NATO forces in the country, hurled a torrent of nasty insults at the British royal, calling him a "jackal" for purportedly costing the lives of many Afghan civilians in the decade-long conflict.

"The British Prince comes to Afghanistan to kill innocent Afghans while he is drunk," Hekmatyar told the U.K.'s Daily Telegraph in a rare interview he gave from his mountain hideout. "He wants to hunt down Mujaheddin with his helicopter rockets without any shame. But he does not understand this simple fact that the hunting of Afghan lions and eagles is not that easy! Jackals cannot hunt lions."

Offering up videotaped answers to questions submitted to him beforehand, Afghanistan's former prime minister and leader of a controversial military faction with a history of killing Afghan civilians, blasted Harry and his lineage as the last vestige of colonialism.

"It seems that some British authorities still dream about the times of the 18th and 19th century and they want their ambassador to be treated like a viceroy and their prince to go out in uniform to hunt for human beings and play the satanic role that they used to play in the past," he said.

Heckmatyar also noted that the prince (aka Captain Wales as he's called in the military) in his estimation remains vulnerable during his latest tour and insurgents will continue to launch attacks as they did at Camp Bastion in Helmand Province, where Harry was stationed last September, which resulted in the death of two U.S. marines.

What happened in Vegas didn't stay in Vegas for Prince Harry

"During the Mujaheddin attack on the American base the prince saw that he was the one about to be hunted and was searching for a hole in which to hide himself," added the official, who has been branded a terrorist by the Obama administration.

A rep for Harry and Buckingham Palace was unavailable for comment.
