Motherhood sure suits Katherine Heigl!

Josh Kelley's wife gushed about adopting baby Adalaide in April on Thursday's Tonight Show With Jay Leno.

"This was fascinating, actually," she said. "We started the adoption process again and we thought we were going to adopt internationally. It's a pretty long process. It can take years...And then, we started exploring because we had heard that Korea had gotten very hard to adopt from and China had a very long waiting list, and I was kind of like, 'Any day now!' And so we started exploring the idea of domestic adoption, just exploring, and then my lawyer called and said there's a birth mother and she's due in four weeks, and [her baby] is all yours if you want her!"

Heigl and Kelley are also parents to 3-year-old Naleigh, whom they adopted from South Korea in 2009. But the former Grey's Anatomy star had to do a little convincing to bring a second little girl into the family in April.

"I had to talk Josh into that one," she said laughingly. "He thought it was going to be a few years, and that we were going to end up with a 9-month-old or 10-month-old. He looked at me and said, 'You're telling me in a month we're going to have a newborn?' And I said, 'Yeah! It's perfect timing, don't you think? We're both here! We're not working. This is great! We can spend time with her!"

"It actually has been beautifully serendipitous and graceful," the proud mom gushed. "We've gotten to spend all this wonderful time with her."

Um, adorable. What a great family!
