It seems like everyone has had something to say about Robert Pattinson lately. But what have people been saying to him?

E! News caught up with R.Pattz's Cosmopolis director David Cronenberg and costar Paul Giamatti at the film's red carpet premiere in NYC Monday, and unlike Kristen Stewart's (ex?) boyfriend, the duo didn't shy away from the topic du jour.

"No, that kind of stuff is none of my business," Cronenberg said when asked if he had any advice to offer Pattinson. "I direct him on the set, I don't direct him in his real life."

Giamatti, meanwhile, also seemed to defer to Rob's own good judgment when asked if he had any words of wisdom to help his costar through this overwhelming, privacy-leeching time of his life.

"I wouldn't know what advice to give somebody going through that kind of thing," he told E! News. "He handles himself really well, he doesn't need any advice."

Rob's expert self-handling was certainly on display later that night, when he gave his first interview since the scandal broke by joining Jon Stewart on The Daily Show.

The ice cream-eating, obliquely referencing chat was the first of many forays back into the public eye he has planned this week in advance of his film's opening. Earlier today he rang the opening bell at the New York Stock Exchange, is due to appear on Good Morning America tomorrow and will be taking part in a 30-minute live chat with MTV on Thursday.

As for Pattinson, he seems to be keeping his focus rather well on this promotional trail, and, above all, remains grateful to his fans for remaining faithful to him, telling E! News, "It's amazing, and if they like the movie, it's even more amazing."
