Spike Lee inadvertently shared the wrong address for George Zimmerman, the Florida man who killed Trayvon Martin, when he retweeted Twitter user Marcus Davonnne Higgins' post that included an address that actually belonged to a random elderly couple.
And now the couple, David McClain, 72, and his wife, Elaine, 70, have found themselves in the center of the controversy. They told the Smoking Gun they're "afraid" due to the online linking of their address to Trayvon's killer. "We're keeping everything locked."
The McClains, who both work for the Seminole County school system, are now considering legal action.
"Maybe we should get a lawyer and send a cease-and-desist letter to Spike Lee," Elaine said.
As of this morning, Lee has yet to remove the incorrect tweet or post a correction.
