The first cut is the deepest...especially when it comes to reality TV competitions!

Dancing With the Stars said goodbye to its first celebrity tonight, bidding adieu to tennis ace Martina Navratilova and her partner Tony Dovolani.

So what did Martina and Tony have to say to E! News about their elimination after the show? And who saw their "dance career flash before" their eyes?!

"I'm devastated for Tony because he put in so much hard work," Martina tells us. "He hasn't had great partners in the past. He wanted an athlete, he got an athlete, but an athlete blew it yesterday. We couldn't make up with the popular vote for the judging yesterday."

Of course, Tony feels the same way, saying, "I wanted America to get to know Martina. I'm just devastated that I couldn't do that for her."

So did Martina have a feeling she would be the dancer eliminated tonight? "I felt better this morning than last night and I felt better as the day went on. I thought we had a shot at it with the popular vote, but I guess we were too far behind," she explains. "I don't know. I thought we had a shot at it."

Martina says she plans to continue dancing, but is hoping to give back to Tony, saying, "I will have to give him some tennis lessons now. I have to pay back!" Tony is more than up for the challenge: "I'll go anywhere she goes!" All together now: Awww!

Singer Gavin DeGraw felt the red spotlight heat tonight as he was in the bottom three with partner Karina Smirnoff. "Had I known it was going to be that stressful and I was going to have that many palpitations, I would've taken an aspirin before I went out there onstage," he tells us. "I felt it. It was like an aspirin commercial up there. That mixed in with a little indigestion. It got scary. I was watching my dance career flash before my eyes!"

Disney star Roshon Fegan was also in danger of going home, despite pulling in some good scores from the judges. "It's a very awkward moment," Roshon says. "I want to say exciting, but in not a good way. It's an anxious vibe. I don't know, I just know I don't want to be up there again!"

Roshon admits he's "confused" about being in danger considering his scores from his first two dances. "You get congratulated and the next day, 'Now stand under this red light and almost go home?!' It's like, 'What?! What do you mean?! Yesterday we were jumping for joy!'" Melissa Gilbert's reaction to almost going home? She says she was "kind of zen about it. I figured it's out of my hands."

Sherri Shepherd's partner Val Chmerkovskiy says viewers should expect to see some surprises next week. "We have only three days to prepare for the next dance, and I really think that's going to mix up the order," he predicts. "You're going to see a lot of favorites go down and a lot of underdogs go up."

Maria Menounos' plan to stick around in the competition? Show some skin! Of next week, Menounos teases, "I'm wearing basically a bathing suit bottom with a sheet. I guess I'm lucky I'm even getting that!"

What did you think of tonight's elimination? Do you think the right couple went home?
