The Hunger Games is selling so many movie tickets you'd think it was Twilight.
Actually, scratch that.
It's selling so many movie tickets you'd think it wasn't Twilight.
The details:
With its release still a week away, The Hunger Games has already racked up some 1,700 sold-out screenings, per stats today from the advance-ticket sellers Fandango and MovieTickets.com.
(E! Online and Fandango are both divisions of NBCUniversal.)
MovieTickets.com said nearly half of its sales were for opening-night midnight shows—a sure sign of a rabid fanbase.
Another sign: Fandango said demand for The Hunger Games is so great that its sales are now outpacing those of the first Twilight.
None of this is a surprise. Since tickets went on sale last month, The Hunger Games has been dominating the multiplex competition.
The main question now is whether The Hunger Games will feast on a $100 million opening weekend.
One thing seems for sure: Even if it doesn't, it'll still get pretty fat.
