Jennie Garth and Peter Facinelli: Anatomy of a Split

Look back at the duo's first meeting in 1996 and their 11 years of marriage

It's sad, but true: Jennie Garth and Peter Facinelli are calling it quits after 11 years of marriage.

The duo confirmed their separation to E! News Tuesday in a joint statement, noting that they "remain dedicated" to raising their three daughters—Luca, 14, Lola, 9, and Fiona, 5—"together."

Last night, just before going public with their family news, Facinelli took his daughter Luca to the Hunger Games premiere in L.A. "Can't hardly wait!" the teen tweeted before the movie. "With the best daddy @peterfacinelli."

Let's take a look back at the Twilight Saga actor and 90210 alum in the happier years prior to their split:

1996: Garth finalizes her divorce from Daniel Clark, who she wed in 1994. The same year, Garth and Facinelli meet while filming An Unfinished Affair.

June 30, 1997: The couple welcomes their first daughter, Luca Bella.

January 20, 2001: Garth and Facinelli get married. This is her second marriage and his first.

December 6, 2002: Their second daughter, Lola Ray, is born.

2002-2003: Facinelli stars in McG-produced TV series Fastlane as a supercool cop.

2004-2005: Facinelli has a role on fourth and fifth seasons of Six Feet Under.

September 30, 2006: Fiona Ray is born.

2007: Garth competes on Dancing With the Stars, where she and partner Derek Hough make it to the semi-finals.

September 2008: Garth reprises her Beverly Hills, 90210 character, Kelly Taylor, on the CW-spinoff 90210.

November 21, 2008: The first Twilight Saga film opens in the United States. Facinelli is introduced to a new generation of fans as Dr. Carlisle Cullen, the patriarch of Robert Pattinson, Kellan Lutz, Ashley Greene and Nikki Reed's characters.

2009: The Twilight Saga: New Moon hits theaters; Facinelli plays a doctor again on the TV series Nurse Jackie.

June 30, 2010: The Twilight Saga: Eclipse opens nationwide.

November 18, 2011: The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1 opens nationwide.

March 13, 2012: Garth and Facinelli release a joint statement that they are ending their marriage.

April 20, 2012: Garth's reality show, Jennie Garth: Little Bit Country premieres on CMT. It follows her move from L.A. to a large farm in central California.
