There's a new kidney on the block thanks to Donnie Wahlberg.

With the push of a button and the aid of the Twitterverse, the New Kids on the Block crooner helped save a life by finding a kidney donor for a seriously ailing fan whose situation had become dire.

This gives whole new meaning to "This One's for the Children"...

Per the Boston Herald, Wahlberg had come across retweets from a NKOTB fan whose BFF in Nashville, Bobbette Miller, needed a kidney transplant, stat. So the singer and current star of CBS' cop drama Blue Bloods forwarded it on to his 183,000 Twitter followers in the hopes of doing some good.

As it turned out, his plea was answered by a flood of phone calls to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where doctors determined there were six matches for the girl.

"It's a testament to the value of Twitter when used for more than telling people what one is eating for dinner or using it to sell products," Wahlberg told the newspaper, chalking it up to a "team effort." "The real life savers are the people who donate organs and the doctors! All I did was help get the message to them."

Bobbette's due to undergo the kidney transplant in June.

New Kids on the Block are in the midst of rehearsing for an upcoming tour, but are taking a time out to perform on tonight's episode of Dancing With the Stars where Wahlberg has been cozying up to disco ball favorite Kirstie Alley.
