Miami Vice has nothing on the cast of characters that pop up in Don Johnson's new television pilot, A Mann's World.

Not only did writer, director and producer Michael Patrick King (yes, of Sex and the City fame) reportedly cast "Leave Britney Alone" internet sensation Chris Crocker in the series, but fans of RuPaul's Drag Race may recognize a certain cross-dressing diva in the mix, too…

Yes, folks, Drag Race sensation Shangela is a series regular, too. If the pilot gets picked up, that is.

The drama, which also stars Ellen Barkin and Sex and the City alum Mario Cantone, centers on a hairstylist (Johnson) and his Beverly Hills salon.

"I play Snip," Shangela (real name: D.J. Pierce) told me at last night in Hollywood at the taping of the NewNextNow Awards (they air on Logo on Sunday). "He's a hairstylist out of New York who comes to Los Angeles and gets into the busy life of the salon, [and] I'm a gay queen from New York City who does hair, so you know I have a bit of a bitch in me."

As for Snip donning drag, Shangela said, "Not yet. But you know, I always got a wig in the bag—so if they need it, it's there!"

Now, for a completely so-not-a-drag-queen subject, True Blood stud Joe Manganiello picked up the night's Cause You're Hot award. He said it was the first award he's ever gotten that isn't related to sports. He thanked his personal trainer, his "manscaper," True Blood's wardrobe department for providing him with so little clothing to wear on the show and 2xist underwear for sending him so much free, well, underwear over the past year.

Awards were also given to Glee star Darren Criss, Tabatha's Salon Takover host Tabatha Coffey and Carrie Fisher. New Kids on the Block and the Backstreet Boys were named Best New Indulgence for their upcoming summer tour.

Hosted by James Van Der Beek, the night included performances by Robyn, Oh Land, Panic! at the Disco and Wynter Gordon. "It's the first step towards something...I just don't know if it's that," Van Der Beek laughed when I asked if his hosting gig was a kickoff for a campaign to land the Oscars some day. "But if it leads there, why not?!"

Van Der Beek's NewNextNow work not only included some fierce drag queen-inspired talkin', but walking a runway in eight-inch heels and getting fashion advice from Johnny Weir.

We certainly ain't in Dawson's Creek anymore.

And who would I be if I didn't ask the stars of Logo's A List reality show (think Real Housewives but with gay men) what they thought of the very naked photos that had been posted on the Internet earlier in the day of their costar and Lance Bass's ex Reichen Lehmkuhl.

"I wasn't impressed," Derek Lloyd Saathoff sneered about the full-frontal pics.

Austin Armacost agreed, "The body is good, but I wouldn't set that as my screen saver."

Meow.
