Our picks for the top five Grammy nomination stunners:
1. Lady Gaga Isn't Up for Song of the Year?! Seriously?! How did this happen? Beneath the wigs, the meat dresses, and everything else, the former Stefani Germanotta is a songwriter. And her "Bad Romance" is the glaring omission in this category.
2. The Cast of Glee Is Up for "Don't Stop Believin'?!" The shock isn't that this cut is up for Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals—although, to be honest, we are surprised Grammy voters aren't sick of it. The shock is that it's the only New Directions performance nominated in the category. If Glee were only going to figure once there, it would've been nice if the honoree was Lea Michele's and Chris Colfer's "Defying Gravity."
3. Susan Boyle Isn't Up for Best New Artist?! She's new! She's an artist! Well, all right...But, come on, she is really, really new and novel in a middle-aged way. Do Grammy voters think fortysomething wallflowers grow on trees? Yeesh.
4. Cee Lo Green's "F--k You" is Up for Record of the Year?! And the real R-rated version?! Not the (just-as-catchy) G-rated version?! Now that is cool.
5. Justin Bieber Isn't Up for Album of the Year?! Look, Mr. Grammy, you nominated the kid for Best New Artist, and his My World 2.0 for Best Pop Vocal Album. You told the haircut, in so many words, "This is your time." Then you went all judgmental, and told him this wasn't the time to claim the ultimate prize. Mr. Grammy, you can be cruel.
