Stars You'll Love, No. 1: Joshua Jackson

Here he is: Mr. Fall TV! Joshua Jackson—bless his sweet and witty soul—is back on our TVs this season in Fox's fabulous new series Fringe, premiering Tuesday at 8 p.m., so when you say your prayers tonight, throw in a thank you to the TV gods for J.J.'s return, but for now, click in to see what he has to say about his new gig and about being back on a regular series.

Who He Is: Who is Josh Jackson? Josh Jackson is Pacey! Josh Jackson is the cute one from Mighty Ducks! Josh Jackson is the platinum-blond gay from Cruel Intentions!

Where to Meet Him: Josh is back on television beginning next week! Tune in to Fox on Tuesday at 8 p.m. for Fringe, the new sci-fi series from J.J. Abrams and Transformers writers Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman. Josh's character, Peter Bishop, is the approachable, colloquial middleman who translates his mad-scientist father's ramblings for the audience, while pitching in with Olivia Dunham's (Anna Torv) difficult and dangerous investigations into the mysterious "Pattern."

Why You'll Love Him: You'll love him for being the voice of the common man on Fringe, for being consistently hilarious—the man can deliver a smartass punch line more reliably than almost any other leading man on TV—and for being, if you're anything like me, one of your all-time favorite TV boyfriends. They do say you never forget your first love...

JOSHUA JACKSON Q&A

Thank god you're back on TV.
Oh, thank you. It's nice to be back on TV, especially doing something like this, which is great.

What's exciting you about Fringe right now?
I get to work with these amazing actors other actors—Lance Reddick, Anna Torv, John Noble—and then you also get to deal with these wildly outlandish scenarios, and that's something I've never done before.

What other shows is Fringe like? X-Files?
The content of the show is X-Files-esque, but it touched on more supernatural themes, and ours is not that. And then the dynamic of the show is different. Anna's playing an FBI agent, but I'm not an FBI agent, and you have this other fantastic character of my father, Walter Bishop, so the dynamic is wildly different...

Are you and Anna Torv's character, Olivia, going to be in love?
I don't know—people above my pay grade get to make those decisions. It doesn't seem like we're headed in that direction. It doesn't feel like it—it's tough to answer the question because, Id have to tell you the storylines, but it would be, let's say, inappropriate for our two characters—at this point.

Are you saying that telling me storylines would be a bad thing?
I would become an ex-castmember of Fringe.
