Five Biggest Emmy–Nomination Snubs (No. 1: No Darren Criss?!)

Let the rants about who won't win at the 63rd Annual Primetime Emmy Awards begin!

Oh, Emmy nominations, you get so much right.

Swan-song nod for Steve Carell? Check. Breakthrough nod for Game of Thrones? Check. No nod for Charlie Sheen? Check. 

But what you get wrong, you get very wrong. Your most egregious snubs:

1. Darren Criss: So, OK, Glee's Lea Michele and Matthew Morrison were kicked to the curb in the lead comedy acting categories, and, OK, their characters were off last season. And, OK, Jane Lynch got a supporting nod, even though her character was way off, but, OK, everybody loves Jane Lynch. And, OK, Chris Colfer got a supporting nod, even though he was the star. But not OK, Criss got nothing even though he was the star's support system and a budding star in his own right. (And don't get us started on the ignored Heather Morris…) 

2. Katey Sagal: Back in January, she won the Golden Globe for Sons of Anarchy. Today, she got nothing. Worse than that, for Sons of Anarchy fans, the show got nothing. (At least Sagal's former Married…With Children spouse, Ed O'Neill, finally got some Emmy love—for Modern Family, in the Supporting Actor Comedy Series category.)

3. True Blood: Last year, it crashed the Outstanding Drama Series race. Today, it just crashed, dropping out out of the glamour category, despite picking up four nominations overall. On the upside, Alfre Woodard, a longtime Emmy favorite, nabbed the series' first-ever acting nod, for Guest Drama Series Actress. On the downside, that means Anna Paquin and Stephen Moyer were denied again.

4. Community: This was gonna be the year, right? For the show, and maybe even for Joel McHale? Nah. Zip.

5. Katie Holmes: You didn't have to watch a second of The Kennedys to have been pulling for a nod for its resident Jackie. But, no, Holmes didn't get one—even though the miniseries' resident Jack (Greg Kinnear), Bobby (Barry Pepper) and Joe Sr. (Tom Wilkinson) did—and now we'll probably all be denied us some TomKat on the red carpet. Come to think of it, a Sheen nomination would've made show night a lot of fun, too. Thanks a lot, Emmy nominations.
