CSI's newest star isn't a lawyer, but he certainly passed the bar.

Ted Danson has joined the hit CBS series as the Las Vegas crime lab's new graveyard-shift supervisor (though, really, all the shifts are graveyard shifts), the network announced Tuesday.

But wait a second. Doesn't the two-time Emmy winner already have a job on a fantastic little HBO show called Bored to Death?

Do not fret, George Christopher fans! Danson will continue to costar with Jason Schwartzman and Zach Galifianakis on Bored to Death, which returns to HBO for a third season later this year.

Even though Danson hasn't exactly gone missing, what with his work on Bored, Damages and Curb Your Enthusiasm, the former Cheers star hasn't been a regular on a broadcast-network series since Becker folded in 2004, so this is as good a time as any to celebrate.

"From the moment we all started talking about the role, it was clear he couldn't be more perfect," said CSI executive producer Don McGill. "Intelligence, wit, warmth, depth of character and emotion, he brings it all.  And now he'll have to bring latex gloves, too."

Danson's crime lab supervisor will make his debut along with CSI's 12th season on Sept. 21.
