ABC Orders New Angels, Belles and Sexy Stewardesses, Cancels Seven Shows

Alphabet net picks up 13 new series, officially kills Calista Flockhart's long-running Brothers & Sisters

The soapiest of the big five networks is staying the course with their 2011-12 series pickups, as ABC has ordered a slew of new female-centric, serialized series including Good Christian Belles (which looks to be a higher-quality successor to the long-past-desperate Desperate Housewives), fairy-tale saga Once Upon a Time, workplace series Pan Am and oh yeah, the return of jiggle TV: the silly, scantily clad Charlie's Angels reboot.

Meanwhile, the cast of Brothers & Sisters is out there somewhere figuring out a plan B, because the long-running Walker family drama has finally been canceled. What else is dead at the Alphabet? And where's Cougar Town going?

ABC canceled tropical medical series Off the Map, alien drama V, superhero series No Ordinary Family, Michael Imperioli's cop show Detroit 1-8-7, Matthew Perry comedy Mr. Sunshine and Joanna Garcia-Swisher's family comedy Better With You. 

NEW SERIES PICKUPS

• Charlie's Angels: It's exactly what you'd expect: ridiculous eye candy. Prepare for diabetes. We salute Minka Kelly for doing her best to make it work.
• Good Christian Belles: Despite the glaring fact that Kristin Chenoweth is obviously not the same age as Leslie Bibb, this colorful soap is about a reformed bitch's return to her roots (and reconnecting with her high school friends) in Dallas looks fantastic.
• Missing: Ashley Judd returns to television (anybody else remember her as Swoosie Kurtz's daughter from the first season of NBC's Sisters?) as an ex-CIA agent whose son goes missing in Europe.
• Once Upon a Time: Eddie Kitsis and Adam Horowitz of Lost executive producer fame scripted this drama about Snow White and an Evil Queen made real.
• Pan Am: Tommy Schlamme (formerly of The West Wing) is behind this look at the rise of transcontinential and intercontinental commercial air travel in the 1960s. Whoo, transportation drama! Fabulous actress Christina Ricci stars.
• Revenge: Cutie Emily VanCamp moves back to the Hamptons to wreak havoc on the people who hurt her family years before.
• The River: It starts out like a series about the Crocodile Hunter's family coping with his death, but quickly twists into a Blair Witch Project-Anaconda hybrid, as horrible things start happening on a tropical riverboat.
• Apartment 23: Formerly The Bitch in Apartment 23, Gossip Girl alums Krysten Ritter and Dreama Walker star in this witty single-camera comedy about "a female odd couple."
• Scandal: The latest series from Shonda Rhimes, this one about a team of professional crisis managers, has a prestige cast that includes Kerry Washington, Henry Ian Cusick and Tony Goldwyn.
• Last Man Standing: Buzz Lightyear Tim Allen returns to television as a man's man father who has an all-female household and is forced to become more of a hands-on parent after his wife goes back to work.
• Man Up: Three immature guys try to figure out what it means to be masculine in today's society. 
• Suburgatory: A single father and his daughter move to the surburbs because the dad (Jeremy Sisto) doesn't want his 16-year-old girl getting in trouble with boys in the big city.
• Work It: Oh dear lord. Who approved this one? Two unemployed guys dress up as female pharmaceutical reps because that's apparently the only job they can get. Amaury Nolasco, you're better than this.
