The good news is that The Vampire Diaries is continuing to crank out awesome episodes in their second season. The bad news is that this is a show about vampire battles, evil supernatural beings, and fragile humans running around in their world. And that means people get killed.

But Candice Accola, who plays the beautiful, blond vampire Caroline, isn't focusing on whether or not she lives through the season. Well, she isn't focusing on only that...

"At this point we're in the home stretch," she tells us. "It's crazy. Everyone is anxious but in a good way. [Anxious for] what's going to happen toward the end of the season and then the potential for characters to be killed off."

Nothing like a chance of being out of job to distract you from your acting, right? But Candice insists that no one is distracted. "Everyone's really excited. The episodes have been so meaty and just full of so many amazing shock-and-awe storylines. We're in the home stretch now."

And during that home stretch, TVD will be giving us Katherine drama, a love triangle of sorts and Caroline's singing debut. Candice stays mum on why her character ends up onstage, but she does tell us it's a welcome break from all the brooding vampires and angsty monologues. "There's so much life and death and drama, rightfully so with what's going on in everyone's storyline, but it's nice to have those moments of just fun. And so that's kind of what brings it up, Caroline jumping on stage, it's just a really fun moment."

But back to the not-so-fun moments—like evil Katherine: "She's always not just two steps ahead, she's 10 steps ahead of everyone's thought process," Candice says. "So I think she definitely has an agenda that she wants to see played out, and whether or not that includes Caroline, it will be interesting to see how that comes around."

But the hardest part of Candice's job has to be dealing with a love triangle between her and two ugly boys all the time: Matt (Zach Roerig) and Tyler (Michael Trevino).  She breaks it down for us: "Caroline was there for Tyler. Caroline had Tyler's back, and Tyler made it very clear that he did not have hers," Candice tells us. "But at the same time Caroline spent a lot of her time lying to Tyler—even though it was to protect him, she was still lying. So I think on both ends there is a lot of construction that needs to happen to—it's going to take a lot for their reconciliation."

As for sweet and oblivious Matt, Candice doesn't know when or if he will ever be let out of the dark, but she does promise it will have consequences. "I don't know when or how it's going to come out, but I'm really excited to see it. It's a big thing. Caroline's been lying to Matt, a lot," Candice laughs. "And in any relationship when one party is lying to the other, it's not good. That would be a pretty big talk to have in any relationship, like, ‘Honey, by the way...'"

Love triangles and evil lady-vampires aside, Candice is ready for the viewers to enjoy the rest of the twists and turns sure to come for the rest of the season. "Every script is just an amazing cliffhanger and each one is pretty shocking, so the audience should be really excited for the end of the season."

Trust us, we are. Are you on Team Matt or Team Tyler? Are there teams at all? And who do you think is going to bite it by the end of the season?
