First Joel McHale, and now Chelsea Handler? Some smarty-pants in the NBC development division obviously has his TV permanently tuned to our very own E! network. Sources confirm that Chelsea Handler, star of E!'s late-night hit talker Chelsea Lately, has signed a script deal with NBC for shows based on her books.

But wait, does this mean that Chelsea is ditching basic cable for the glories of network primetime?

Don't worry Chelsea fans! You'll still get all the comedy stylings of Chelsea Handler right here on E! For one thing, she's just executive producing the NBC comedy, not starring in it, and for another, we've totally got her locked in here at E! on Chelsea Lately until 2012, plus we just picked up her new After Lately spinoff!

TV writers Dottie Zicklin and Julie Larson will join Chelsea in executive producing the NBC project, which is based on Chelsea's three books, My Horizontal Life: A Collection of One-Night Stands, Are You There, Vodka? It's Me, Chelsea and Chelsea Chelsea Bang Bang
