Fall TV Preview: Wait! Don't Run Away From Chase Just Yet...

Get our reviewer's take on NBC's Chase: Should you watch or pass?

Good guys hunting bad guys. Yawn. How original, right?

And yet there's something pretty darn alluring to NBC's Chase—the latest crime drama from Jerry Bruckheimer—that we can't quite put our finger on. Oh wait, yes we can. Here's the 411:

Chase (NBC)

Premieres: Monday, Sept. 20, 10-11 p.m.
Competition: Hawaii Five-0 (CBS), Castle (ABC)
Cast: Kelli Giddish, Jesse Metcalfe, Cole Hauser, Amaury Nolasco, Rose Rollins
Status: We've seen the pilot.

If at first glance you think Chase is just another action-packed, crime-solving procedural...you'd be absolutely right. But wait, it's actually got some flair that sets it apart from the CSIs and Law & Orders of the world—and that flair is more like down-home sizzle, courtesy of leading lady Kelli Giddish.

Kickass Kelli (as we've dubbed her around these parts) steals the spotlight as a U.S. marshal working alongside her fellow fugitive hunting costars Cole Hauser, Amaury Nolasco, Rose Rollins and Jesse Metcalfe. They are just the good guys hunting down the bad guys—and as formulaic as it sounds, Chase really is a fun ride.

Now back to Kelli. As Annie "Boots" Frost, you can't help but love this chick. She's saving lives, she's fiery as a pistol, and she immediately draws you in with her Southern charm. There's a deep, dark backstory in there somewhere too—and Kelli makes us care enough about Annie to stick around and find out more.

Another bright spot in the cast? The always likable Amaury Nolasco from Prison Break, also known as Jennifer Morrison's (House) other half—and J.M. is even guest starring on an episode. (She shot it before heading to CBS' How I Met Your Mother.)

There's nothing new to see on Chase, just good ol'-fashioned action with that big-budget push we know and love from Bruckheimer.

Verdict: DVR it.
