Judges Stop Judging on So You Think You Can Dance Finale

Robert, Lauren and Kent head to the finish line with no objections on night one of two-part finale

Nigel Lythgoe, for one, "really doesn't mind" who wins So You Think You Can Dance at this point.

And that sentiment certainly summed it up for the judges on the first night of season seven's two-part finale, with all three of them opting to focus on the already very successful journeys of Lauren Froderman, Kent Boyd and Robert Roldan rather than any microscopic flaw in the performances. Even the complaints were cloaked in "I love ya!"

Not that we're in any position to disagree. The three danced freakin' beautifully.

"I'm such a proud Mama Mia right now," the hardest-to-please judge of all, Mia Michaels, beamed tonight, calling Lauren "perfection" and Robert a "genius dancer" after they teamed up for a charming contemporary-with-pillow routine.

Mia also thought Lauren was "filthy" in her politician-themed hip-hop romp with Twitch—the highest of praise in these circumstances.

Until she said this, anyway: "If I was still dancing, I would want to dance just like you."

Yes, our jaws dropped just as much as Lauren's did. What more could anyone say to anybody?!

Sure enough, neither Nigel nor Adam could quite outdo that with anything they had to say to Robert or Kent, but they tried their hardest!

"You just became an artist, my friend!" Adam Shankman shrieked at Kent, nearly losing his dinner, after his not-so-perfect-couple dance with all-star Allison Holker. "You just went so past this show! You don't need this show!"

(Quite the compliment, but probably nothing Adam wants to go around advertising...)

And if Mad Men ever went musical, it would look something like the Broadway number Robert danced with Kathryn McCormick.

"Jerome Robbins would have been proud," Adam praised the routine, done to "Cool" from West Side Story—which, in case you didn't hear him, Adam has danced "many, many times."

Mia wanted a bit more "sizzle" (that inexplicable "ssss" she's wanted all season from the Broadway numbers), but other than that, it was an admitted "lovefest."

"I think all three of you deserve it, all in different ways," Nigel said tonight.

But perhaps they feel that one of them deserves it just a little more than the others.
