Two Guys, a Girl and a So You Think You Can Dance Finale

Lineup for next week's finale is set; Nigel Lythgoe will tap dance once again

As if the judges hadn't hailed her enough, Adam Shankman even admitted to praying last night for Lauren Froderman to make the So You Think You Can Dance finale.

So, is anyone surprised to learn that the 18-year-old from Phoenix is indeed a season-seven finalist?

Lauren absolutely deserved to be there, of course, having held her own as the only girl (who didn't get injured) with both the skill and personality to stand out in this boys' club.

That left three guys and two spots.

Or one spot, really, when you consider how the judges have been predicting an ultimate victory for Kent Boyd, 18, for weeks.

And sure enough, it came down to Robert Roldan and AdéChiké Torbert for the last spot in the finale.

Last night, Mia Michaels called Robert "the prince of this season," though he didn't always connect with the voters, going in and out of the bottom three early on. Meanwhile, a sign in the crowd for AdéChiké reading "The People's Champ" said it all, because he was never in the bottom, yet was repeatedly called out for not completely putting himself out there.

Robert was the people's champ this week, however, and he snagged the final spot in the finale.

Well, judges, there you go.

In light of Robert repeatedly being called "brilliant' last night while AdéChiké was once again criticized for being stiff and not fully connecting with his routines, we decided to rewatch last week's Spanish Harlem nightclub-inspired, Tyce Diorio jazz number featuring AdéChiké and Courtney Galiano.

Let's just say, AdéChiké has been responsible for far more brilliant moments than he's been given credit for.

Don't get us wrong, we love Robert, too. It's just that, upon further review, we have no idea how the judges kept missing what was so obviously there with AdéChiké.

But either Kent, Lauren or Robert will be named America's Favorite Dancer, and we're just fine with that.

Along with the crowning of a new champ next week, look forward to more tap dancing from Nigel and a restaging of the doctor-patient hip-hop routine featuring Twitch and "an absolutely fantastic dance legend" standing in for Alex Wong.
