Hooray! Don't you love it when Christmas comes early?

NBC has just announced that Parenthood--the freshman family dramedy starring Peter Krause, Lauren Graham, Dax Shepard, Erika Christensen, etc.--will live on to a second season.

I just hit the set while they were filming tonight's episode (10 p.m. on NBC) and went all Barbara Walters on Dax Shepard's ass...

OK, so he didn't cry, per se. But as you can see from the video above, he was prepared to get all emotional. And emotional these talented actors should be, 'cause NBC has given them a surprise early pickup for the 2010-11 TV season...and they are clearly having a good time. Dax and Peter also share a funny story about how they came into each other's lives before Parenthood (it's so Losty!).

Dax, who is engaged to our longtime TV love Kristen Bell in real life, tells us that despite his very real bromance with Peter, so far he isn't sharing much in common with his character on other levels: "No one is yet to show up with a 5-year-old illegitimate son of mine, but let's hope. [Crosses fingers.] We're still early into 2010."

Check out the video above, and in case you missed it, here's my interview with the always amazing Lauren Graham...
