So You Think You Can Dance With a Wacky Schedule and Nigel's Fave?

DVRs are going to get quite a workout during season six; plus, do you agree with Nigel Lythgoe's choice for the best dance ever?

It seems like just yesterday that Jeanine Mason was capturing our hearts—literally—on the fifth season of So You Think You Can Dance.

Lucky for us, her reign as America's Favorite Dancer will be cut short when season six high-kicks-off next Wednesday on Fox.

Visits to the audition cities—including Atlanta, Boston, Los Angeles, New Orleans, Phoenix and Salt Lake City—last through the Oct. 6 episode. Nigel Lythgoe, Mary Murphy and a revolving cast of choreographers will be perched at the judges table yet again. Vegas Week begins Oct. 7, with the green mile episode (where the Top 20 are chosen) arriving in your living room Oct. 21.

The schedule for those first two months is a little zany, so we're giving you a handy, dandy guide after the jump, and then, we have the rather important SYTYCD matter of Nigel's pick for best dance ever to discuss...

Prepare your DVR:

  • Sept. 9 (8-9 p.m.), audition episode
  • Sept. 16 (8-9 p.m.), audition episode
  • Sept. 23 (8-9 p.m.), audition episode
  • Sept. 29 (9-10 p.m.), audition episode
  • Sept. 30 (8-9 p.m.), audition episode
  • Oct. 6 (9-10 p.m.), audition episode
  • Oct, 7 (8-9 p.m.), Las Vegas round
  • Oct. 14 (8-9 p.m.), Las Vegas round
  • Oct. 21 (8-9 p.m.), Las Vegas round, Top 20 chosen

OK, dance fans, now that that's out of the way, we need to discuss the SYTYCD "Top 15 Dances" episode that aired last night.

Don't get us wrong—we loved revisiting every one of those dances (Benji Schwimmer and Heidi Groskreutz's "Black Mambo"? Forgot. How. Awesome). But Nigel dared to name his absolute favorite dance across all five seasons.

Melissa Sandvig and Ade Obayomi's breast cancer number? Really?!

We're not saying Tyce Diorio's work isn't stunningly moving and memorable, but we don't entirely agree with the show's top dog.

Do you agree with him? If not, what is your favorite dance (or dances—we certainly couldn't pick just one) of all time?
