I'm a Celebrity's Finalists Plan Books, Exercise Tapes & More
Paul Drinkwater/NBC
He might not have taken the jungle crown last night on I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here!, but NBA vet John Salley certainly has postshow plans fit for a king.
We caught up with John, the show's winner Lou Diamond Phillips and first runner-up Torrie Wilson this morning and here's what they're up to now...
John, who came in third, says his book proposal is being shopped to publishers now. He's also revamping his website (www.johnsalleyfoods.com) with newly penned recipes and has a new syndicated radio show, which starts in September.
The book "is not a tell-all, but a tell a lot!" joked John, who handled most of the cooking duties on the show. "And I have 25 more recipes now for my website. I have 25 different things to put in beans to make them taste not like beans. I'm coming out with everything—cookbook, cook show..." He even said he has recipes named after Lou, Torrie and Sanjaya: "I got the Sanjaya marinara."
Torrie, a retired professional wrestler, said the jungle inspired her as well: "While I was in the jungle trying to figure many different ways to get my workout in, I decided I'm going to do a workout video. That is on the immediate horizon."
And as for the King of the Jungle himself, after a failed attempt at catching fish in the Costa Rican jungle, he plans to give the great outdoors in California a shot: "I kind of grew up [camping]. And like they say, 'The fishing's always good, [but] sometimes the catching sucks,' " he said. "Living in L.A., I haven't had a chance to do that yet, and as King of the Jungle now, I've got to at least be king of the national reserve or something. I want to take the kids out and give them a taste of it."
