Today's Tater Tops category is a new one. Best Grown-up Show is devoted to those TV shows that could actually win an Emmy, given the Academy's widely acknowledged tendency to honor stuff that doesn't center on teenagers or young adults. (Ergo, the shutouts for Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Friday Night Lights and Veronica Mars.)
Yep, these shows are not safe for impressionable youngsters. Some are intensely violent (Breaking Bad, The Shield, Sons of Anarchy), and some are just heavy on the existential crisis (Breaking Bad, In Treatment, Mad Men). And, of course, it's better to keep children away from the word existential until absolutely necessary.
Still, despite their lack of role models and their general angst, these shows are damn good TV. Which one is your favorite? Vote in the poll below!
