Laura Leighton Is Melrose Place's New Landlady

The Melrose Place original castmember derby starts now!

First out of the gate is Laura Leighton's Sydney Andrews, according to Nellie Andreeva at the Hollywood Reporter. While Sydney is ostensibly dead (she got run over at the end of the original M.P.'s season five), she's been shamelessly resurrected for the new edition—and let's face it, no one minds a bit!

Sydney will recur as the landlord of Melrose Place and presumably serves as a kind of den mother to the previously cast regular-character likes of Ashlee Simpson-Wentz and Katie Cassidy.

Leighton is married to fellow former Melrose Place castmember Doug Savant (who now, of course, stars on Desperate Housewives as Lynette's husband, Tom Scavo.)

BTW, if you're a big Leighton fan and you have DirecTV, come July you can check out Eyes, her series with Tim Daly from a couple seasons back, which will re-air with some never-broadcasted eps.
