Caprica is coming. Yay!
The pilot of the Battlestar Galactica prequel premieres on DVD and digital download April 21, and you can check out the trailer above for a sneak peek of the heartbreaking drama of families destroyed by terrorism. (It's bad juju, but darn good-looking TV!)

The pre-apocalyptic drama begins filming in July and the ongoing series premieres in 2010, but your hunger for BSG-style intellectual sci-fi can be sated with the scoop and seven sneak peeks below.
Esai Morales, who plays Adm. Bill Adama's (Edward James Olmos) grandfather Joseph Adama, explains the gist of the series thusly: "It mirrors, in my opinion, what's happening today on our own planet and our own country. [The nation-state planet of] Caprica represents the values that we as Americans represent, and my family comes from [the nation-state planet] Tauron, which is a more repressive establishment, like a mixture of Iran and Latin America or the Soviet Union, where the state is a lot more paternal, repressive and restrictive. We come from the old world and are trying to thrive in this world, and my family gets victimized or caught up in the politics of monotheism and polytheism."
Paula Malcolmson plays Amanda Greystone, the wife of computer magnate Daniel Greystone (Eric Stoltz), and she tells us, "It's really lovely, actually. It's not scenery-chewing at all, but Amanda's so f--king pissed off. As the boys try to deal with their own grief in their own way, she's kind of left holding the bag. She's got her work [as a surgeon]. And she's a control freak, so there are a lot of places to go with her." (For the record, the boys deal with the grief by, uh, creating Cylons.)
Polly Walker, who plays Sister Clarice Willow, the headmistress of the school attended by Daniel and Amanda's daughter, Zoe Greystone, says of her character, "I think I'm a gray character. I'm ambiguous. There's a twist at the end that I won't reveal, but I think my audience is always going to be asking about my character, 'Is she good or bad? Is she good or bad?' " Ooh, so she's like the HRG of Caprica. Cool beans.
Esai adds that deep questions about good and evil will pervade the entire project, saying, "It's a show that makes you think about what it is to be a human being, not unlike Battlestar."
