Idol: The Baby, the Heartthrob and the Underdog
Michael Becker / FOX
The judges have once again narrowed one of the semifinal groups down to three. Kris Allen, Adam Lambert and Allison Iraheta join Danny, Alexis and Michael in their attempts to become the next American Idol.
The great news? Ladies, the man you've been waiting for…the new David (either one), the new Chris Daughtry, the new Justin Guarini…Kris Allen has arrived! See what the heartthrob thinks of being called just that.
And of course, the judges already have their doubts about Adam's performance, but check out his take on it below…
Kris Allen may be the new heartthrob of the season, even if he doesn't believe it himself. Kris says, "I guess it's a good thing, [but] I don't know if I am!" The little girls of America do love their heartthrobs, though. (See what happened last year when a certain David didn't win.) Still, Kris says, "I don't know what to think about that. Like say, thank you…so much! I don't know, it's so weird." Get used to little girls crying over you, pal!
The judges, particularly Simon Cowell, have mixed feelings about Adam's performance already, but he just thinks they weren't ready for his musical stylings: "Hopefully I'll warm him up even more. I'm a lot to digest, so I understand some people may be like, huh? I think America and the judges are going to get to see different sides of me. I'm not going to be screaming my face off every week. So get ready, there are going to be some surprises." As long as he doesn't grow a faux-hawk and sing like Sanjaya, I'll be OK with it.
Allison is one of the youngest American Idol finalists to date, and even though everyone keeps reminding her that she's the baby of the group, Adam says, "She's got an old soul." Allison adds, "I just think we're all here for the same thing and it's doesn't really matter what age or who you are. It's a matter of how much you want this and how prepared you are to do this."
The trio also says everyone has become a family hanging out on the AI set and they have a few people they're really pulling for when the Wild Card episode airs. Says Kris, "Matt Giraud and I were roommates from the first week in Hollywood, so I'd love to see him make it." Adam agrees, "He's so talented and a great guy, too."
